The Berg Brothers

Our Story

Our older brother Chris lives in Springfield, Vermont and introduced us to Stonecutter Spirits Single Barrel Gin back in 2018. When we took our first sips of Stonecutter Gin, it never occurred to us that we might someday become keepers of the brand. But we knew immediately that we were lifelong fans. Every time we visited our brother’s farm, we would pick up a few bottles.

So when we learned that Stonecutter Spirits might be closing its doors, our passion for the flavor and quality of the gin inspired us to reach out to Sivan Cotel, the co-founder of Stonecutter Spirits, and ask how we could help.

Our story is ultimately about our desire to keep this amazing artisanal product alive and available.

Our mission is to continue to share Vermont’s finest with anyone looking for a unique gin experience.

We truly hope you will enjoy Stonecutter Single Barrel Gin as much as we do!

Matt Berg

By day, Matt is the CIO for a prominent Intellectual Property law firm in Boston. By night and weekend he’s a husband (to his loving wife Alicia) and a father and step-father to four great boys (Oliver, Thoren, Henry and Gabe). He is also the author of an Epic Fantasy series called The Crafter Chronicles.

Matt earned his undergraduate degree at the US Naval Academy and his Masters from Kansas State. While in the Navy and attending grad school Matt spent time bartending in Newport, RI and Manhattan, KS—where he also served as the Assistant Brewer at a local brewpub. Thus began his foray into all-grain homebrewing as well as experimentations with mead and other traditional fermented beverages.

Keith has been married for twenty-seven years to an incredible wife and partner, Amy. Hopefully you will meet her very soon! He has three just as incredible kids and is a very proud father. Catherine, Larsen and Charlotte (University of Vermont, Champlain College).

He is very proud and honored to be part of Stonecutter’s history.

“Gin was never my ‘go to’ beverage of choice. Of course I liked the flavor, but I tended to choose other options. One sip of Stonecutter Gin and I was converted! Stonecutter is incredibly smooth and has so much flavor! I drink it straight on the rocks!”
